The West Mendip Way runs from the beautiful Cathedral city of Wells to the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare (or vice versa), following as far as possible the ridge of the Mendips for approximately 30 miles.  Be warned, however, that once the path has reached the top it does not stay there: not one, but several steep climbs are encountered along the way!
In September 2008 I walked the West Mendip Way with my two children over four days.  It had been a very wet August, but thankfully we had good weather nearly all the time, and some fantastic views.  There were quite a few soggy patches underfoot, though...
